    OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

    We have opportunities for licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR) and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) team members within our regional practice.

    GulfSouth Autism Center provides individual treatment plans for children ranging in age from toddler to preschool, who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.  Our staff is passionate about working with this population, and thrives in our collaborative environment.

    As an interdisciplinary practice, GSAC provides comprehensive treatment including speech, occupational, and ABA therapy under one roof and within each school day.  Our on-site BCBAs provide individual and group ABA Therapy, while our Allied Health team focuses on Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy.

    GulfSouth Autism Center therapy is primarily one-on-one, teaching children skills such as social interactions, language communication, and social development.

     

    Requirments

    • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (for OTR)
    • Certification (for OTA)
    • Valid Louisiana state Licensure
    • Prior experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders or developmental delays required

    Preferred Candidates

    • Prior experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders or developmental delays required
    • Pass background check

    Position Details

    • Conduct comprehensive evaluations (OTR only)
    • Plan and provide treatment
    • Complete necessary documentation: evaluations, progress notes, treatment plans, home exercise programs
    • Communicate regularly with parents/caregivers
    • Work collaboratively with other professionals including BCBAs, clinical directors, and SLPs.
    • Conduct staff training as necessary

      This unique and effective, comprehensive program was developed by Gulfsouth Autism Center doctors to help prepare children for independence in a school environment.  SPEAK combines intensive one-on-one ABA services with occupational therapy, and individual and group speech therapy.

      The one-on-one sessions between your child and the Gulfsouth Autism Center speech therapists are crucial in helping meet your child’s individual goals.
