Ruth earned her bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from Louisiana State University in 2010 and her master’s in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2013. She began her career working with autistic and medically fragile children at the Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing Foundation, an experience that shaped her passion for helping children communicate and connect.

For nearly a decade, Ruth worked with adults in skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation hospitals, gaining extensive experience with tracheotomies, stroke, TBI, ALS, MS, and Parkinson’s disease. Before the pandemic, she collaborated with Gleason House to provide AAC support, including eye-gaze technology, and helped many patients regain the ability to eat and transition off feeding tubes.

Ultimately, Ruth’s heart led her back to her first calling—working with autistic children. She is thrilled to be part of GulfSouth Autism Center, where she can combine her clinical expertise and lifelong passion for helping children find their voices.
